Why I chose my major

I chose Human Development and Family Science because it uniquely aligns my passions with a practical end goal after graduation. I want to serve families and children in my career, and I love learning about why people think and act the way they do. Human Development and Family Science combines both of these. It teaches practical skills for interacting with humans of every age and understanding how they think and make decisions.  Also, my family is incredible, and they are an integral part of who I am today. Because I have seen firsthand the effects that having a loving family can have in every aspect of life, I want to help restore broken relationships and help ensure that children are growing up in the best possible homes for them. I want to love people the way that God does, and I can do this better using the knowledge I have gained through my HDFS classes.

What I like most about FACS

I love how relational FACS is. Each one of my professors throughout my time in FACS has been someone who genuinely cares for my well-being beyond just my test scores. Each professor makes it clear that they desire to help students grow as individuals, and they will go above and beyond to help us meet our goals. Ultimately, FACS faculty and students care about people, so any FACS class ends up being the perfect mixture of fun and practicality.

Post-graduation plans

I plan to stay in Athens and work for a non-profit serving children and families.
