- Why I chose my major
Coming into UGA, I knew I wanted to work with children but did not know if that was going to be in the medical field, politics, education or mental health services. My interests were all over the place. When looking into potential majors, I felt like the content in HDFS encompassed all my interests and would serve me not only as a student, but as a person. Biological, psychological, and social development, diversity, advocacy, complexities in family systems and research are guiding topics in the major and are important in arguably any career field. HDFS is a well-rounded department and prepares students for not only a variety of different careers, but for life outside of being a student.
- What I like most about FACS
Each department within FACS is unique from the other, so when browsing Dawson Hall, I pick up new fashion ideas, recipes, budgeting tips and many other educational tidbits that encourage a well-rounded and holistic student body. Outside of its educational attributes, FACS is a community. I feel challenged, guided, supported and encouraged by the wonderful people who make up this college.
- Post-graduation plans
I will remain in Athens to attend UGA’s M.Ed./ Ed.S. School Counseling program while being a graduate assistant in the FACS Student Success and Advising Center.
