Furthermore, I had the opportunity to present my research in a poster session at the 2008 Georgia Dietetic Association Annual Meeting in Atlanta.
- Current position
Registered Dietitian, United States Army
- My current job entails
I am currently the Recruiting Program Manager for the Army Medical Specialist Corps | Army Dental Corps in Fort Knox, KY. Formerly, I served as Deputy Chief of the Nutrition Care Division at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, GA. In this role I managed evidence-based nutrition services for over 250 inpatients and 400 outpatients per month and coordinated the feeding of over 10,000 inpatient meals per month. I provided leadership for a staff of 20 military and civilian personnel, including six registered dietitians. I organized nutrition-related health and wellness events to benefit more than 111,000 enrolled beneficiaries over a four-state region. Additionally, I improved force readiness through providing monthly nutrition classes to Active Duty and Reserve Units. It has been a great honor to serve in the US Army and improve the health and nutrition of our Nation's heroes, retirees, and their family members.
- The primary reason I chose to attend UGA and be a part of NUTR was because
The strong reputation for academic excellence, high-caliber professors, undergraduate research opportunities, and variety of extracurricular and leadership activities. The rigorous undergraduate coursework combined with my research experience laid the foundation for me to excel in the US Military-Baylor University Graduate Program in Nutrition. I can tell you that without a doubt, attending UGA and graduating from FACS has been one of the greatest experiences I could have ever hoped for. Having the opportunity to serve as a FACS Student Ambassador during undergrad allowed me to develop my public speaking, networking, and leadership skills while working in a strong team-centered environment. These skills have directly translated into my successful career as an officer in the military and nutrition professional.
