Dedicated and experienced soft material professional with a proven track record of four years in the development, characterization, and performance evaluation of polymeric materials across diverse fields of applications (e.g., smart textiles, E-textiles, and protective textiles). Proficient in state-of-the-art methodologies and techniques to effectively design, optimize, and characterize polymeric materials for practical applications. Specialized expertise in understanding and leveraging polymer properties, synthesis, and processing to tailor materials for multifaceted functionalities.  

Biography

Amit Talukder is a dedicated professional at the intersection of technology and material innovation. With a bachelor's in textile engineering and an MS in Business Administration, he recently earned an MS in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Mississippi State University. Now, he is pursuing his PhD in Polymer, Fiber, and Textile Sciences at the University of Georgia. 

Amit's career journey includes over four years of hands-on experience in industrial weaving and three years of research experience in material science. His research interests span human factors, ergonomics, smart textiles, nanomaterials, polymeric materials, and energy harvesting. His work has been recognized in media outlets, and he secured a grant for research on wearable flexible solar cells.

Current Research

  • Leading research projects aimed at developing advanced PVDF-based nanogenerators for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and energy harvesting applications in protective textiles.
  • Engineering lightweight, heat-resistant aramid-fiber-based nanofibers designed for personal protective clothing.
  • Innovating and developing PHB/TiO2 composites using touch and electrospinning techniques in biomedical and environmental fields.
  • Designing and developing aligned PHB fibrous tissue engineering scaffolds through touch spinning apparatus and 3D printing for potential medical applications.
