Research

My research interests are centered around social determinants of health (SDoH) and their impact on developmental outcomes for Black emerging adults. My current dissertation research explores young Black men's educational achievement and well-being. Specifically, I am investigating how young Black men's ethnic-racial identity influences their values and beliefs on education achievement and well-being. The research questions my study investigation include:  What experiences shaped young Black men's ethnic-racial identity? What social influences motivated and supported young Black men's pursuit of college education? How do young Black men in the study define success and well-being for themselves?
