Linda Kirk Fox
College of Family and Consumer Sciences
Professor and Dean Emeritus
I enjoyed a proud career spanning 40 years working at land-grant universities including ten years spent at the University of Georgia as the dean of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences, 2011-2021.
While I retired in August 2021 from University of Georgia, I continue to engage in mentoring and coaching the next generation of professionals and administrative program leaders in the human sciences. I serve on the Council for Accreditation, American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. I am a Coach and Catalyst for the national program called EXCITE (Extension Collaboration for Immunization Teaching and Engagement), funded by the Centers for Disease Control through a cooperative agreement with USDA NIFA. And I am a philanthropist, establishing endowments to support students and faculty through the Dean Linda Kirk Fox Scholarship for Academic Excellence (UGA) and the Linda Kirk Fox Faculty Excellence Fund (University of Idaho).
I began my career at the University of Idaho, spanning 20 years from 1981-2001. I was the Director of the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences, Professor and Extension Family Economics Specialist, and Extension Home Economist.
I served as Dean and Director for Washington State University Extension for nine years, overseeing 700 employees statewide and leading a 13-member administrative team.
Throughout my career, I characterize my accomplishments as supporting a highly productive and diverse faculty and student body and fostering positive external and public relations in support of distinct and well-funded programs in the human sciences. As a member of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Board on Human Sciences (BOHS) I served two terms on the Board of Directors. For six years I was liaison for BOHS to the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP). I co-chaired the EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) Task Force and achieved the goals to restore and increase the line item for Federal funding and secure additional base EFNEP funding for 1890 and other land-grant institutions.
I was a contributor to several system-changing reports and initiatives including the Cooperative Extension National Framework for Health (2014), the Healthy Food Systems – Healthy People Initiative (2016), and the Building a Culture of Health: Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to the National 4-H Council. All of these efforts have expanded partnerships and sustained new funding.
All three of my degrees are from Oregon State University.
