Job Description
Dr. Mountain is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist with a focus on financial planning. In his role of an Extension Specialist he helps improve the financial literacy of Georgia residences through financial education. Dr. Mountain has received grant funding from the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) to educate people to better understanding and improving credit scores. His research interests include measuring financial overconfidence, the efficacy of financial education, examining debt behavior including housing decisions and student loans, retirement contribution decisions, and exploring the characteristics and decisions-making of low net worth house holdeholds. Travis is a member of the NC 2172 multistate research team focusing on "Household financial and health decision-making under economic uncertainties."
Currently, he teaches two graduate classes, FHCE 8200 Financial Planning and Analysis and FHCE 8025 Research Evaluation and Theory.
