Nominate A Board Member

Each year the FACS Alumni Association looks for dedicated individuals to serve on the FACS Alumni Board. As an alumnus and/or friend, you are invited to nominate outstanding persons (including yourself) to be considered for this honor.

Alumni Board members enjoy networking with faculty, staff and other alumni. Being an active member of the FACS Alumni Board strengthens your degree, experiences and helps to further promote priorities and initiatives of the college. As a board member, you will develop leadership skills through committee participation, facilitating Alumni Association signature events and opportunities to meet, support and mentor FACS students.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the College of Family and Consumer Sciences
    • (Being an alumnus of the college is a plus but not a requirement)
  • Interest in engaging with FACS Ambassadors and students
  • Interest in networking with FACS and other UGA alumni
  • Commitment to a three-year term, potential for advancement in leadership roles on the board
  • Commitment to participate in Alumni Association board meetings, commitee meetings, events and programming

Expectations

Service

  • Serve a three-year term (beginning July 1)
  • Attend three Board meetings per year
    • Fall Retreat (August)
    • Winter Meeting (January)
    • Spring Meeting (March)
  • Serve on at least one standing committee of the Alumni Board
    • Strategic Partnerships - Assists the Director of Development in identifying and pursuing fundraising opportunities and goals for the Board
    • Programs - Coordinates and plans signature events as well as additional programming assigned by the President
    • Alumni Awards event- Responsible for organizing the Annual Alumni Awards event
    • Young Alumni Council - Promotes the importance of new alumni staying involved with the College through events and communications
  • Be an active and present participant in quartlery board meetings and monthly committee meetings
  • Serve as a champion of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences within your company or organization by supporting the Dean's priorities

Engagement

  • Actively participate in Alumni Board signature events including but not limited to the Annual Alumni Awards Luncheon, UGA Trivia Night, Dogs with the Dean and the FACS Homecoming Tailgate
  • Participate in alumni panels and other speaking opportunities in the classroom
  • Participate in Dean's Receptions, Homecoming, Alumni Awards Luncheon and other FACS events when possible
  • Participate in student mentoring and engagement activities

Philanthropy

  • Include FACS in your philanthropic priorities:

    • Make an annual gift to FACS Alumni Association in an amount that is meaningful to you
