The Research and Grants Office plays a key role in the design, development, and implementation of a wide range of support programs for faculty grant development activities.

We Help Faculty

  • Find funding opportunities
  • Develop grant proposals
  • Review proposals to ensure fit with funding source policies and goals
  • Coordinate activities with Sponsored Projects Administration

Services We Provide

This provides an outline for support, but our mission is to help our faculty. If your need is beyond this scope, the Grants Coordinator will work diligently to connect you with appropriate resources.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Consulting with faculty and graduate students to develop grant proposals
  • Editing proposals
  • Monitoring for correctness and compliance with agency guidelines
  • Rewriting portions of applications as needed
  • Reviewing and evaluating proposals prior to submission

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Responding to faculty questions surrounding compliance issues
  • Ensuring compliance with grant policies and regulations according to Federal, University, and various Sponsor guidelines
  • Grant Compliance with the Uniform Guidance

Additional Services

  • Locating funding opportunities for faculty from federal, state, and private sponsors
  • Assisting with the electronic grants submission process including www.grants.gov
  • Coordinating with Sponsored Projects Administration

Grants.gov

Grants.gov was established as a governmental resource named the E-Grants Initiative, part of the President's 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda to improve government services to the public.  Today, Grants.gov is a central storehouse for information on over 1,000 grant programs and provides access to approximately $500 billion in annual awards.

SPA serves as a resource for information regarding funding opportunities. Staff members serve as liaisons between the university community and external funding agencies for all matters related to sponsored program administration. See “Find Funding” link.

OIBR Grantsmanship Development Program

The Grantsmanship Development Program targets faculty members at the University of Georgia who have not previously received major extramural support to pursue their research. During their participation in the program, participants attend scheduled workshops and events and prepare periodic progress reports to track milestones and assist with goal setting.

NIH Peer Review Revealed

The Center for Scientific Review has produced a series of videos to give you an inside look at how scientists from across the country review NIH grant applications for scientific and technical merit. New and established applicants will find insights and understanding that can empower them to improve the applications and increase their chances for receiving a more positive review.

Corporate and Foundation Relations

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for maximazing support for the university's mission of education, research, and service by fostering mutually beneficial relationships with corporate partners and furthering the funding goals of the private foundations. Its website has tools available such as samples, statistics, cover sheets, and legal information about The University of Georgia.
