Healthy Relationship Education - What, Why, and How It's Part of Strengthening Families.

This webinar, hosted by the the National Resource Center for Healthy Marriage and Families, was designed for Federal, State, Tribal, and Local agency administrators and social service providers. It explored the value of healthy marriage and relationship education skills for couples and families, as well as strategies for integrating these skills into safety-net service systems as a holistic approach to strengthening families. The featured guest presenter was James P. Marshall, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist in Family Life at the University of Arkansas. (December 2012)

Cooperative Extension and the National Resource Center for Healthy Marriage and Families: Working Together to Promote Family Stability and Child Health/Safety. 

This webinar provided an overview of the National Resource Center for Healthy Marriage and Families, its Web site, resources, and objectives. This webinar also provided information about how Cooperative Extension Professionals and the National Extension Relationship and Marriage Education Network (NERMEN) have and will be involved in future Resource Center efforts and upcoming events. The Missing Link - Helping Young People Get Smart About Their Love Lives

This national Online Seminar, hosted by Children, Youth, and Families Education and Research Network (CYFERnet), featured Kay Reed from the Dibble Institute, Ted Futris from University of Georgia, and Jennifer Kerpelman from Auburn University who discussed how to help vulnerable young adults and young parents build skills and knowledge needed to be smart about romantic relationships and to reduce relational turbulence, including discussion of a curriculum developed to address these issues. What's Love Got to Do With It? Children's Development in the Context of Their Parent's Relationship. 

Dr. Francesca Adler-Baeder, providing the keynote presentation at the 2009 CYFAR conference and speaking from an extensive research background on families under stress and children's experiences in diverse family types as well as practical experience working with a broad spectrum of families, shared ways to better understand and empower families under stress to nurture their children. She provided practical applications, discussing the systems approach used in a statewide initiative in which practitioners and researchers have built real partnerships for effecting positive change. Adler-Baeder is a professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Auburn University. Adler-Baeder serves as co-director of the National Extension Relationship and Marriage Education Network (NERMEN), oversees the National Stepfamily Resource Center, and directs several research projects on children and couple relationships. Building Strong Marriages: Resources for and Lessons Learned from Working with Stepfamilies. 

This national Web conference, hosted by Children, Youth, and Families Education and Research Network (CYFERnet), provided parent and family life educators, as well as 4-H Youth Development educators, programming recommendations for working with adults and children in stepfamilies. Educational resources available through Extension for working with this audience were shared, including Smart Steps for Stepfamilies.  A recording of the webinar is available. (October 2008)

Who's out There? Resources for the Field.

This webinar, hosted by the National Healthy Marriage Resource Center (NHMRC), provided federally funded healthy marriage program grantees with an overview of some of the resources that are available to help them strengthen and refine their marriage education programs. In particular, the webinar highlighted the resources available to all programs through the NHMRC and The National Extension Relationship and Marriage Education Network (NERMEN).  A recording of the webinar is available. Building Strong Marriages: A Tale of Two Extension Programs.

This national Web conference, hosted by Children, Youth, and Families Education and Research Network (CYFERnet), provided parent and family life educators an overview of two Extension marriage education programs, Married and Loving It! and The Marriage Garden and how to apply these two curricula in their own work. Participants also learned about the forthcoming National Extension Relationship and Marriage Education Model and other resources available through NERMEN. A recording of the webinar is available. Going Further: Community Planning for Healthy Couple and Marriage Education Programs and Support.

This national Web conference, hosted by Iowa State University Extension helped family professionals better understand the connection between positive parenting and couple relationships and begin to build the case for supporting families in this critical area and explored strategies to bring community members together to plan for couple and marriage education programs and support. A lesson guide to bring community partners together around this topic was introduced. A recording of the presentation and link to the lesson guide is available. (May 2007)

An online seminar hosted by Ohio State University Extension that provided participants with effective, research- and evidence-based strategies for developing, implementing, sustaining and evaluating healthy relationship and marriage education programs for diverse audiences. (April 2006)

The Impact of Couple and Marriage Relationships on Parenting and Child Outcomes.

A satellite program hosted by Iowa State University Extension that explored program implications for working with unmarried parents who are considering marriage as an option and how the quality of married and unmarried couple relationships affect parenting quality, father involvement, and children's well-being. (December 2005)

Couple Relationships: Research and Extension Programming.

An on-line seminar hosted by The Ohio State University Extension that provided participants with a better understanding of the factors influencing healthy, satisfying, and enduring couple relationships and ways to apply this information to programs and services intended to meet the needs of couples. An interactive telephone training hosted by the Children, Youth, and Families Education and Research Network (CYFERnet) on couples education. (October 2001)

Marriage and Couples Education: An Overview of an Emerging Issue.

A satellite broadcast to overview the latest research findings, look at marriage and couples education from a public policy perspective, and highlight a variety of models being implemented by Land-Grant Universities to meet the needs of couples. Video and resource packet now available on-line. (September 2000)
