We are currently accepting applications for the 2022 Housing & Community Development Undergraduate Fellowship program
Each spring, the Center for Housing and Community Research offers a fellowship program each spring to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to learn and apply new skills while working on a project that supports the work of the Center. Past fellows have conducted projects that support the needs of cities in the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing program, including a workforce housing survey, a development of a database of vacant land, and a survey of neighborhood housing conditions.
Community development researchers and practitioners are concerned with the quality of a community’s housing stock, the range of housing options offered, the physical infrastructure, social capital, and economic opportunities, all of which have a significant impact on the quality of life experienced by a community’s residents. The Housing & Community Development Undergraduate Fellowship program is offered through UGA’s Center for Housing and Community Research to enhance the capacity of communities to address their housing and community development goals while providing undergraduate students with supervised, hands-on experience that will enhance their housing and community development knowledge, research and technical skills.
Who can apply?
The fellowship is open to all undergraduate students at UGA. Completion of or concurrent registration in FHCE community development coursework is recommended but not required.
How does the fellowship work?
Students will work on a small housing or community development project that supports the work of the Center or is requested by a community or organization in Georgia. Students will work under the supervision of a faculty member. The fellowship requires a time commitment of approximately 50 hours during the spring semester. Students selected for the fellowship will receive a stipend of $1000.
How do I apply?
