Completing an internship is an excellent way to develop the hands-on skills and professionalism needed for a successful transition to the workplace. How It Works
The specific nature of the coursework will depend on the internship and your major. Your academic advisor can discuss with you how the internship will fit into your academic plan. Your faculty supervisor is responsible for the following:
- Providing assistance in identifying an appropriate internship site
- Discussing with you how your learning will be evaluated
- Weekly logs, assignments, midterm, final, etc.
- Following up with you and your employer
- Your faculty supervisor will meet with you periodically and contact the employer at least once over the course of the term.
- Evaluating your performance with the Employer Evaluation and the Student Evaluation
- The Employer Evaluation helps to assess your performance, while the Student Evaluation provides your faculty supervisor with helpful information on the quality of the learning experience provided by the organization.
- Submitting your final grade
