The Applied Research Internship program allows HDFS Majors to gain 1 (45 clock hours), 2 (90 clock hours), or 3 (135 clock hours) credit hours as they work directly with University Faculty on research projects.
- Work with faculty on research projects
- Gain experience applying theoretical approaches to the study of families
- Apply principles of research to diverse individuals and families
- Present your research in the CURO Symposium
Please note that the Applied Research Internship is only open to HDFS Majors.
What do I need to do now?
- Review the requirements below to know when you will be eligible to complete a research internship.
- Take HDFS 5110 Research Methods.
- There are experiential learning funding opportunities, so please review the EL website for guidelines and due dates!
If you would like to work directly with a faculty member to learn more about research, please meet with your advisor and faculty to discuss a Directed Study that you might complete before committing to a Research Internship.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Completed 60 semester hours prior to beginning the internship
- Completed HDFS 2100, 2950, 2200, 5110 and five additional HDFS classes with a grade of “C” (2.0) or better prior to beginning the internship
Once you have completed the above, please complete the HDFS 5950 Agreement Form to formalize the internship and obtain permission to register.
