Earn 3 credit hours during this two-week Maymester study tour that explores the sustainable fashion supply chain in Peru, a country noted for its highest-quality alpacas and cotton. Peru has all the necessary components of the supply chain within a relatively small country in the proximity of the U.S. Today, leading fashion brands utilize Peruvian sources and skilled labor for their fine products. The program will explore how sustainable fashion is created, from farm to fashion, and demonstrate that Peru’s fashion future is promising. The professional programs include company visits, large and small, touring alpaca farms, and a weaving demonstration. We also visit local retailers to experience visual merchandising and interior design. The trip also provides the opportunity to familiarize yourself with Peru’s fantastic landscape, rich culture, and people. We shall visit Lima, Arequipa, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and, of course, Machu Pichu.
Highly recommended to all students interested in sustainable business practices, fashion futures, and Latin American culture or those who are looking for an exciting professional and rich cultural experience.
