Ghana

The summer service learning program, led by Dr. Alex Anderson, is designed as a practicum encompassing hospital observations, hands-on practice with health and nutrition screenings in the community and lectures in nutrition/dietetics and public health issues in Ghana.

This Service-Learning experience will offer you the opportunity to immerse yourself into a different culture and the way of life of the people regarding their food habits, management and treatment of malnourished cases, in terms of the healthcare seeking behaviors. You will learn and be expected to work with others as pertains in the field of public health. Activities to be conducted in the different places and communities will be driven by student interests and talents.

Approximate Cost: $3,900, which includes housing in the community and in hotels, breakfast and dinner each day, field trips, admission fees to selected cultural and tourist events, and ground transportation (program fee does NOT include airfare, tuition, or fees associated with tuition)
