A week immersed in the heart of NYC's fashion industry

This immersive week-long trip will take place in Manhattan, NYC, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore various facets of the fashion industry. 

During the tour, students will visit renowned design showrooms, network with industry professionals, and gain invaluable insight into future career possibilities. Highlights of the trip include a tour of Macy’s Flagship Store, visits to specialty companies such as Medusa's Heirlooms and M&S Schmalberg, and a WindowsWear Fashion Tour. The itinerary also features a Harbor Cruise and stops at iconic sites like the Empire State Building and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is a unique opportunity to experience the heart of the fashion world in New York City while building connections that could shape your professional future. Students will earn 3 credits for TXMI 5710 or TXMI 7710.

  • May 11, 2025 - May 17, 2025. 

Tour Includes

  • 10-12 corporate visits, including FIT, museums, and select sightseeing
  • 6-night hotel stay in the Times Square area
  • Airfare not included in the program fee

Approximate Cost

  • The program cost is approximately $1,750.00, plus airfare and the tuition for the 3-credit-hour course. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from NYC.
  • Upon acceptance into the program, a $150.00 deposit is required within two weeks through the Study Away portal. The remaining program fee will be billed to your student account in April.
  • To participate in the trip, students must enroll in TXMI 5710/7710 and SABD/FSTY 1033.

**In the event a student contracts COVID during the week of the trip and is unable to attend, non-refundable payments cannot be reimbursed. Should a student fall ill during the trip, they will be responsible for any additional personal expenses incurred, such as accommodations, medication, and meals.

However, if City or State officials declare it unsafe to travel due to the closure of NYC businesses, or if the trip becomes unfeasible due to a pandemic, natural disaster, or terrorist attack, all non-refundable payments will be fully refunded.

Applications will close when the maximum enrollment capacity is reached.

To apply for the program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Fashion Merchandising major or minor.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7.
  • Have completed or be currently enrolled in TXMI 3210.
  • Submit an online application along with a statement of purpose, resume, and two letters of recommendation.
