FDSA was founded for UGA students with an interest in fashion to help tailor portfolios, resumes, & skills as designers as well as provide a runway opportunity for designers, models, makeup artists, photographers, and journalists to showcase their skills.
In addition, FDSA promotes the opportunities and experiences needed to thrive in the fast-paced fashion industry for members of all experience levels. If you are interested in assisting us with designs, event planning, modeling, photography, makeup artistry or covering the runway show please reach out to our email! We would love to help you start developing your portfolio!
FDSA was started in 2006 through the efforts of several inventive & engaging Fashion Merchandising students, but has since grown to encompass any and all majors as a creative outlet for art & design. We welcome the dedication and passion of all individuals with an interest in fashion, and look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!

Fashion Shows
Each semester our runway show is fully student run with the fall show being an upcycled show and our spring show being from scratch. Our only mandatory meetings are our midway check point, dress rehearsal, and show date. Throughout the semester we have meetings to brain-storm the theme, mood board making, opportunities for designers and models to meet, percentage nights and more. We also offer multiple sewing workshops with our design director to specifically further develop our member’s design skills to prepare for the runway show. Updates on these meetings are in the emails, group me, and Instagram! In the few weeks before the show, we also host open lab hours for the sewing lab in Barrow Hall so those who don’t have materials at home can use the resources there.
